Scholarship for Native American Women in Engineering

I know you all received a note from Jo Ann about this fund, but I have been trying to make it into something I can get the Stanford magazine to put in a story.  Since what I have written includes some specifics about where and how to donate, I am posting it here.

SHOLARSHIP FUND

The Stanford Sloan class of 1977 held a reunion in July 2011 in Montana.  Classmate Jo Ann Morgan was the host for the event.  Among the many unique activities of the reunion, we were treated to an evening of song by Jack Gladstone, a Blackfeet singer and an activist for preservation of Indian ways and improvement of life for his people.  At the conclusion of the reunion, those attending made donations to support Jo Ann, herself a renowned engineer throughout NASA’s halcyon days, in establishing a fund to provide scholarships for Native American women to become engineers.  Mrs. Morgan has reached an agreement with Montana State University which has 15 potential candidates and will announce the initial scholarship officially in February, 2012. The fund is set aside to award scholarships to Native American women in the College of Engineering who are residents of Montana, with priority given to women who have served in the National Guard or the US. Military.   The fledgling fund donations are being matched by private and corporate donors.  Any future donations by individuals from the Stanford Sloan program will also be matched.  The trailblazing class of ’77 did a good thing, as there was not a single fund set aside for Native American women engineering students in the state of Montana.

Donations can be made to "The Native American Women in Engineering Opportunity Fund".
Make checks out to MSU Foundation and clearly identify the fund in the memo section of the check (or cover letter?)

Mail checks to:

Turkeys in Montana

What with Turkey day looming ahead, I though I would remind everyone that Fitch and Day were not the only two Turkeys on the Golf course at Whitefish in July.  These guys were on the number 3 tee box.  Wonder what they are doing now??

The REAL Chris Pendleton

I thought, since Parkinson put up a still shot of Chris and his "Scream" or Maori Chant, I would go him one better with a little video. When we choose up sides, I get Chris on my team!!!

MUHLSTEIN PHOTOS OF GLACIER

Ellie and Lado sent me a disc with some of the spectacular shots of Glacier National Park taken on the Helicopter flight.  In order to keep the blog from crowding up, I have posted the pictures in the Stanford website photo gallery for Montana. Take a look, they are great.  Thanks Lado and Ellie!!
